Ten songs I wish that were books

The idea for this post came from the weekly meme Top Ten Tuesday, created by the The Broke and The Bookish. Since I like lists, especially about books, you can definitively expect more Top Ten Tuesdays on this blog.

When I think of stories, books are the first thing that come to my mind. But songs can tell stories too. And how amazing would it be if you could read books about your favourite songs? Here are 10 songs that would make good books:

1. King and Lionheart by Of Monsters and Men

King and Lionheart is one of my favourite songs. I think this song could be a good premise for a fantasy series about a female pirate captain and a prince who wages war against the people who murdered his parents.

2. Warriors by Imagine Dragons

It is easy to imagine this song to be a fantasy book about a group of warriors.

3. Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles

Paul McCartney made up the name Eleanor Rigby. However, the song always makes me curious about what kind of woman Eleanor Rigby would be.

4. L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N. by Noah and the Whale

This song already has two characters: Lisa who had deep brown eyes and worked at a night club, and Joey who was an artist living out of case. With a good plot, this could be an interesting story.

5. Mountain Sounds by Of Monsters and Men.

Another song by Of Monsters and Men that could be a fantasy book. This book could be about two characters who flee from something, that keeps following them. Slowly the reader finds out what it is.

6. Drops of Jupiter by Train

“She acts like summer and walks like rain” is only one of the many lyrics in this song that would look good in a book. And the part where he sings “Since the return from her stay on the moon” indicates that this would be a book about a girl who regularly travels through space. That sounds like a story I would like to read.

7. I Would Stay by Krezip

I listened to this song a lot when I was younger. It is about two people who love each other, but cannot stay together. I imagine that they meet again when they are both old, and then tell each other about their life.

8. A Bar in Amsterdam by Katzenjammer

If this song was a book it probably was about a group of rebels who are waiting for the right moment to revolt.

9. Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics

This song would be a book about someone who travels the world and the seven seas looking for something. Just add some mysterious clues and an antagonist who is looking for the same thing.

10. Piano man by Billy Joel

This could be a book with an old man as narrator telling about his life as a piano man.
